Women's Institute

WIBucklesham Brightwell & Foxhall Women’s Institute

We meet at Bucklesham Village Hall at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday in every month, except in the Summer when we go out somewhere.

We usually have a speaker when we meet in the village hall, except in January, March (our birthday meeting) and December when we have our Christmas meal. Tea and coffee are available at every meeting at the village hall. Our birthday meeting in March is open to any ladies in the village and to other WIs. We usually do something a little different to the regular monthly meeting. In the past, we have welcomed belly dancers and a ukulele band. We hold a raffle and provide food and refreshments for everyone. We hold a raffle when we meet in the village hall, as we need to raise extra funds to see us through each year. We also have a trading stall, where members can sell things they make or produce, with the WI taking ten percent of the proceeds.

We welcome new members both from within our villages and outside. Currently, around half our members live outside the villages of Bucklesham, Brightwell and Foxhall. The WI caters for a diverse range of interests and events put on by our local federation (Suffolk East Federation of Women’s Institutes) and Bucklesham WI supports many of these. Examples of events on offer include crafting, visits to local gardens and other places of interest, treasure hunts, darts and ten pin bowling, among other more active events.

Please get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more about the WI.
